Aszendra is a Chromium-based browser from Hamburg, Germany. It blocks ads and trackers out of the box, warns about phishing sites without reporting addresses anywhere, translates pages on your own computer and keeps passwords in a separate, encrypted process. Extensions come from the Chrome Web Store. Aszendra is free and collects no usage data.

In detail

Aszendra wants to be a browser that wants nothing from you. It is built on Chromium so pages work as they do in Chrome — and leaves out what ties Chrome to Google: no account, no usage statistics, no cloud translation. Instead it builds in what you would otherwise look for in extensions: an ad and tracker blocker, warnings about scam sites, a password vault using Argon2id and XChaCha20-Poly1305 as its own program, and always-secure connections if you want them.

It adds ideas of its own: the Constellation shows every open tab as a star map, related pages as constellations. Nachlese searches everything you have read in full text — locally. Tabs you are not looking at give their memory back. Updates are signed with Ed25519 and verified before they are installed.
